ABOUT THE PRACTICE

Dr Caitlin Hegter is a dynamic and enthusiastic OBGYN with a passion for women’s health.
Born and raised in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, she relocated to Pretoria in 2010 to pursue her medical studies at Tuks (UP), where she obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB) with distinction in 2015. Her career as a medical doctor began at Addington Hospital in Durban, where she completed her 2 years of internship training, followed by a year of community service in Rustenburg, where she gained one year of invaluable experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. It was during her internship time at Addington Hospital that her passion for women's health was ignited, and she returned for 2 years of further medical officer time in the O&G department at Addington Hospital under the guidance and mentorship of Dr Kay Tunkyi, during which she completed her Diploma in Obstetrics from the Colleges of Medicine South Africa.
She returned to Pretoria to undertake her specialist training at UP, where she received her Fellowship from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. Dr Hegter also attained her Master of Medicine degree (MMed) with distinction, undertaking her original research in gestational diabetes under the guidance of Professor Sumaiya Adam. It was during her time at UP that she developed a passion for minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery, learning under the guidance of Professor Leon Snyman.
In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, reading a good book and spending time with her husband, young daughter and 2 (busy) frenchies.
Dr. Hegter’s achievements and unwavering dedication to her field are a testament to her success. Her deep passion for improving her patient's quality of life and assisting new mothers in experiencing the joy of bringing their young ones into the world is evident in her every action. This dedication is what sets her apart and makes her an ideal collaborator for those who share her commitment to women's health.
